Every generation has it’s film that defines it’s generation.

To name a few:

  • 1950′s –  ”Stand By Me”
  •

  • 1950′s – “American Graffiti”
  •

  • 1950′s – “Rebel Without a Cause”
  •

  • 1960′s – “Easy Rider”
  •

  • 1970′s – “Breakfast Club”
  •

These are just a few, but the point is that each one of these films defines that generation.

The Social Network is directed by David Fincher (which is kinda why I give a crap) who has also directed ‘Seven’, ‘Fight Club’, ‘Panic Room’ and ‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button’.

If you haven’t watch it already you need to watch the trailer for ‘The Social Network’ you can watch it here:

After watching this trailer, I felt terrified!  I’m scared of fame, success, recognition and privacy!

The Social Network definitely has those themes in it! With a tag line that reads, ‘You don’t get to 500 Million Friends without making a few Enemies’

I think The Social Network has themes that are applicable to today’s generation.  A theme that I recognized in the trailer is that too much recognition and fame will destroy you.

The internet and social media is the ‘Wild West’ of our generation.  Multiple reports indicate that 25% of youth believe they will be famous one day.  Regardless of my personal beliefs on fame, I felt that The Social Network will be a powerful film and a great observation of our generation.
